The Polemic of the Kashruth of Machine-Ground Wheat: Kuntres Kol Tchinah - Single Edition Jerusalem, 1912 - Kuntres Kol Tchinah - קונטריס קול תחנה, קול טחנה, the work by the Rav the Rachman - Rabbi Raphael ben Naim, the Rav of Gibraltar, about the controversy regarding the Kashruth of grinding wheat for Matzas using steam mills. First and only edition, the Press of Shmuel Zuckerman, 1912-1913 (on the title page: 1912; in the foreword: 1913). [6], 8 pp. 88, [2] leaves. Slightly dry paper. Small tears along the edges of several leaves. Minor stains. Good overall condition. detached binding.  Background : At the beginning of the twentieth century, with the spread of the invention of the steam engine, Jews in African countries began to use steam-powered flour mills. Some Gedolei Yisrael banned their use,   fearing they could not be cleaned to the level required for Pesach, while other rabbis approved them. The situation caused a great controversy, with both sides publishing books to support their claims. Among those who forbade was Rabbi Raphael ben Naim and he printed in Jerusalem in 1912 this book ”קול תחנה קול טחנה” in which he wrote at length on the need to ban the mills. Rabbi Eliyahu Ben Gigi published the book Kol Tze’akat HaRo’im against this book, in which he elaborates with a factual description and a Halachic answer to allow them. The author, Rabbi Raphael Chaim Moshe ben Naim - the Rav the Rachman (1845-1920), the son of Rabbi Yeshaya. Was an important Dayan inTiberius and Shadar in varied communities. For more than thirty years served as the Rav of Gibraltar.
