Historical Letter by the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir with a Blesing for Passover - Nissan, 1956 - Important letter with many blessings, correspondence between two leading Rosh Yeshivas of the Holocaust generation - by the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir, Lithuania and later Israel.  To the Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg, author of Shut Seridei Esh. Jerusalem, Nissan, 1956.  Historical content : in his letter the Rosh Yeshiva addresses the complicated financial situation of the Mir Yeshiva a in its early days in Israel. The letetr reflects the many challenges the Yeshiva faced in its first years in Israel, until it became a large and central yeshiva in Israel.  The Rosh Yehsiva, the Gaon Rabbi Finkel sends many blessings to his beloved friend, who - as the letter implies - helped the yeshiva raise funds abroad. He emphasizes the significance of his actions and their contribution to the establishment of the yeshiva: ”עבור תדירות מסירותו הנאמנה למען ישיבתנו הק'... וכל עזרה מוסיפה נדבכי הצלה”. Later, the Rosh Yeshiva blesses his friend for the upcoming Passover: יתברך בחג כשר ושמח... מתוך בריות גופע וכל משאלות לבו לטובה, ותחזינה עיניו בחודש הזה אשר ישועות בו מקיפות, בנפלאות ה'... כימי הוציאנו ממצרים בישועתנו הנצחית... ונושע בתשועת עולמים... ולזכות לאכול מן הזבחים ומן הפסחים”. On the margins of the letter, he repetas his blessing: ”בברכה ובתפלה לרפואתו השלמה”. [1] leaf. 27X21 cm.  Good condition. Aging stains. Fold lines.  Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel (1877-1965) was the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir for many years. When he was a boy he studied under Gedolei Hador including Rabbi Shimon Shkop, Rabbi Chaim Soloveitchik, Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz, the Chafetz Chaim of Radin and Rabbi Eliyahu Baruch Kamai, whose daughter he married. After his father-in-law’s passing he served as the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir through its journey across Europe and to Jerusalem after the war, until his passing in 1965.
