Important Letter Handwritten by Maran Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky - 1952 - important and interesting letter handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky, author of the Chazon Yechezkel, to his beloved friend Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko, the Rosh Yeshiva of Etz Chaim of Montreux, Switerland. Nissan 5, 1952.  The first part of the letter is a cordial correspondence between to Rosh Yeshivas, inlcuding warm blessings for Passover: ”תתברכו ממעון הברכות וחסד ה' יהיה חופף על כולכם כל הימים”. It is particularly fascinating to observe the deep personal connection between the two. In a departure from the conventional style of correspondence between Gedolei Torah, Rabbi Abramsky extends warm blessings to the women (his daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughters) of the addressee’s family as well: ”אל בתו המהוללה והברוכה מנשים באוהל וכלתו החשובה והכבודה... ונכדותיו הרכות והענוגות”. The last part of the letter bears a historical nature. In it, the Chazon yechezkel joyfully informs his friend that a new volume of his monumental commentary on the Tosefta has been published: ”אחר החג אמציא לכם את התוספתא בבא מציעא המכילה מאתים עמודים, ונדפסה בעזר השם בתכלית ההידור, וגם חן מקום ההדפסה [ארץ ישראל] על הספר” Then, Rabbi abransky describes his plans to continue his great enterprise: ”אם יהיה השם עמדי אתחיל עתה בהוצאת התוספתא בבא בתרא ואחר כך מנחות, והנני מיחל שחסדי ה' לא תמנו ולא כלו רחמיו, ויהי' לי לעזר לברך על המוגמר. בידידות נאמנה – יחזקאל אברמסקי”. Indeed, his blessings and prayers were fulfilled and he continued to publish his commentary on additional tractates of the Tosefta,   The letter was sent in his first year in Israel, to which he immigrated after resiging his position as Av Beit Din of London. Appearing on the top of the official stationery:  ”כעת ירושלים, בית וגן” [Now Jerusalem, Bayit Vagan]. About Rabbi Abransky's special handwriting, Rabbi MNoshe Zvi Nerya wrote:  ”התרשמתי מאוד מכתב ידו המיוחד. האותיות הפניניות, הישרות והחטובות – אין צריך להיות גרפולוג מומחה כדי להכיר מיד את האישיות המוצקה של הכותב, יושר קווי דרכו, כושר סדרנותו ונמרצות החלטתו” [I was deeply impressed by his unique handwriting. The pearl-like, straight, and well-formed letters - one need not be a master graphologist to immediately recognize the writer's steadfast personality, the integrity of his path, his organizational prowess, and the vigor of his resolve].  [1] leaf. 21X15 cm. Official stationery. Handwritten entirely by the Chazon Yechezkel.  Very good condition. Fold lines.  Maran the Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky (1886-1976) author of the Chazon Yechezkel. Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka, leader of the Chareidi community after the Holocaust and one of the leaders of Mo'etezt Gedolei HaTorah. In 1923, Rabbeinu was appointed the Rav of Slutzk, replacing the Gaon Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer, who escaped the Communists. Rabbeinu himself suffered from the KGB and in 1930 was sentenced to five years in Siberia. Following the pressure of Jews from all around the world, he was released and left the USSR for London. In his final years, he lived in Jerusalem. The addressee, the Gaon Rabbi Yerachmiel Eliyahu Botchko (1888-1956) the founder and Rosh Yeshiva of thew Etz Chaim Yeshiva of Montreux, Switzerland. A disipcle of the Saba of Novhardok. At the age of 23, he married the pious Mrs. Rivkah Sternbuch of Switzerland. Not wanting to earn their living from the Torah, the famlly engaged in trade.
