Couple of Seder Plates - Israel, 20th Century - Couple of impressive Seder Plates, of a different design yet aesthetically complementary:  One of them - a cast metal plate with rich work of grapevines and bunches of grapes. In its center a medallion with the inscription of ”Pesach” and the Simanim of the Seder around it in English. On its verso, a stamp of Israel Export Quality. The plate features decorative casting work typical of Judaica in Israel and abroad in the first half of the 20th century. Made in Israel apparently in the 1940s-1950s.  The second - a greenish Art Deco Seder Plate with six dents for the Simanim of the Seder. In its center, a relief of the symobols of the Exodus from Egypt and Matan Torah and the inscription of Zion surrounded by the names of the Simanim. The combination of the green color, metal border and graphic design is typical of Passover artifacts made in Israel in the 1930s-1950s.  Such Seder Plates were the central item on the Seder table, being used not only as a functional item but also as a decorative element reflecting the atmosphere of the Festival and the hsitorical memory of the Exodus from Egypt.  A beautiful collectible - a couple of authentic Seder Plates displaying the spirit of the Jewish Seder of the 20th century.  Good overall condition; minor blemishes. Marks of usage and patina matching its age.
