Important and Fascinating Article that was Not Published about the Controversy regarding the Schools in Galicia - by Rabbi Moshe Leiter with Comments Handwritten by HIm - Brooklyn, New York 1950 - About the struggles and circles among the Chareidi community of Galicia and Bukovina - fascinating article about the battle at the school founded by Rabbi Meir Jung in Krakow - by Rabbi Moshe Leiter, one of the leading rabbis of HaMizrachi - with comments handwritten by him. Brooklyn, New York, 1950.  In his article, Rabbi Leiter reviews the battle over the Real school (Realschule) founded by Rabbi Meir Jung in Krakow, Galicia. Reading between the lines, Rabbi Leiter protests how Rabbi Jung was treated by the rabbis of Galicia and Hungary, who looked at his projects as if they were the work of the Maskilim. Actually, he was not one of them at all; he was simply trying to save Jewish children who were leaving in droves to attend Polish government schools and secular Enlightenment schools.  Among others, he introduces Rabbi Jung's lengthy letter to the rabbis of Hungary and a Kol Koreh by the Admorim of Ruzhin and Vizhnitz, who according to the writer, were close to Rabbi Jung's initiative. The booklet was written when Rav Leiter was a member of the Mizrachi and his writing, naturally, reflects its position. At the end of his words, he summarizes: ”אבל באמת הייתה בגליציה מעין התנגשות השקפות בין שני זרמים החסידיים, בין חסידי טשורטקוב, הוסיאטין, סדיגורה, באיאן ויזניץ וסיעתם מצד אחד ובין חסידי בלז-צנז מצד שני...” [but in truth, there was a clash of views in Galicia between two Chassidic factions, between the Chassidim of Chortekov, Husiatyn, Sadigura, Boyan and Vizhnitz on one side and the Chassidim of Belz-Sanz on the other...].  This article was appraently sent to published in the religious journal Sinai; yet, to the best of our knowledge, was never published! 9 leaves, 9 pp.  Typewritten with Rav Leiter's handwritten comments.  22X28 cm.  Filing perforations. Good condition.  Rav Moshe Leiter (1894-1984) born in Galicia, Received his Hora'ah Semicha by the Maharsham of Brezhan. Was a wonderful Gaon who authored many books. At first was a member of Agudat Yisrael, yet withdrew from it in 1920 following its passive position regarding the question of Eretz Yisrael. Since then, he was a member of the Mizrcahi Movement and published many articles on the issue of Eretz Yisrael and its conduct.
