From right to left: the Admor the Maharam of Bilgoray, Rabbei Zelig Reuven Bengis, Rabbi Meir Chaim Ungar of Lekenbach, Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin, Rabbi Shm, uel Halevi Wosner. On the right of the photograph, beside th eRav of Bilgoray, Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna (apparently) can be seen.  Approx. 18X13 cm. Folds and minor blemishes. Good overall condition.  HaMifal Lema'an Yaldei Yisrael [Enterprise for Jewish Children]  The Mifal was established by the Agudat Yisrael Movement in 1943 to save the spiritual well-being and education of young Holocaust survivors who immigrated to Eretz Yisrael. This period saw a bitter battle over the future identity of these young immigrants, with secular organizations and Kibbutzim actively trying to take them in and raise them under secular values. The Mifal worked tirelessly, sometimes resorting to clever maneuvers against official authorities, to make sure children from religious homes received a traditional Jewish upbringing and were not cut off from their heritage. At its height, the Mifal ran twelve institutions throughout the country. Among these were boarding schools and yeshivas in Jerusalem that took in refugees from both Europe and Middle Eastern countries (such as the ”Tehran Children”). These institutions became a warm refuge for orphaned and solitary teenagers, offering a protective Torah environment that allowed them to stay on the path of their fathers despite the horrors of the war and the difficulties of adjusting to life in Israel.
