Discovery! An Additional Unknown Leaf! Nidchei Yisrael by the Chafetz Chaim with the Notation ”מוגה” Handwritten by Him - First Yiddish Edition Warsaw, 1897 - Sefer Nidchei Yisrael, a book on the foundations of religion for people living in countries far from Jewish life, by the Gaon Maran Rabbi Yisrael Meir Hacohen of Radin, the Chafetz Chaim. In this edition, Hebrew-Teitch (Yiddish) was added throughout the entire work for the benefit of women and common people. Printed in Warsaw, 1897. At its end, Kuntres Tiferet Adam on Isur Hakafat HaRosh and Hashchatat Hazakan by the author. 148 leaves. Moth perforations and damage. Stains and other minor blemishes. Slight restorations to several leaves. Fine new binding. Fair overall condition. On the flyleaf, notation of ”Mugeh” . On the title page, the stamp of Rabbi Chanoch Henich Shafran of Bucharest, Romania.  Discovery! In this copy, an additional leaf was added at the end of the book paginated ”קמח - עמ' 295-296” following the indices with ”an omission belonging to chapter 26”. The leaf discusses the prohibition of shaving of one's beard: ”והנה מפני שהאיסור הזה של גילוח הזקן נעשה בעו”ה כהפקר... מוכרח אני להאריך...מגלח זקנו שבזה מיפה את עצמו לפי דמיונו... אף שבאמת אינו מיופה כלל עי”ז כי הדרת פנים זקן...”. This leaf is not in all other known copies of the book and it was not printed in additional editions of the book; its content does not appear anywhere except in this book. Part of the content apepars with variations in Tiferet Adam by Rabbeinu the Chafetz Chaim yet most of it is unknown!!! A wonderful discovery!
