Rare - First Edition of Yad Charuzim - the Famed Book by Rabbi Gershom Chefetz - Venice, 1700 - Yad Charuzim - a guide book for poets and Paytanim - by Rabbi Gershom Chefetz the son of Rabbi Moshe Chafetz the author of Melechet Machshevet - Venice 1700 - first edition.  A unique book containing thousands of rhyming words. Intended to help Paytanim and poets in writing poetry and Piyyutim of prayer and joy.  The author of the book passed away young and his father, the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Chafetz the author of Melechet Machshevet, published the book in his memory. On the title page of the book, Rabbi Moshe wrote a lengthy melancholy foreword. In it, he recalls his son's life history and painfully laments his passing using the famed verses of Kohelet  ”עד שיפוח היום ויסתבל החגב ותפר האביונה...”. Rare and unattainable! In the Rare Book Collection of the National Library.  72 leaves. Without the 4 additional leaves at its end.  Late binding. Large dampness stains. Good condition.
