Breath-Taking Historical Item: Pinkas Otzar Hachessed of the Vaad Haklali - with Dozens of Lines Handwritten and Signed by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook - Jerusalem, Eraly 20th Century - Large, thick bookeeping ledger with variedlists and protocols of  meetings of the Otzar Hachessed Keren Shmuel, the financial department of the Vaad Haklali KnessetYisrael in Jerusalem, which used to give loans for the establishment of new neighborhoods in Jerusalem. Jerusalem, 1920s-1930s. Doznes (!) of lines handwritten and signed by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook.  This is an item with extremely rare historical value: correspondences, mnanagememnt meetings, decisions, protocols, names of loan-takers, the sums of the loans and many additional details pertaining to the development of new neighborhoods of Eretz Yisrael - some of them appearing here only. The protocols are signed by leading rabbis and acticists of Eretz Yisrael at the time, both from the Old Yishuv and from Rav Kook's circles,   The novelty of this ledger lies in the comments and confirmations of the Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisrael, Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook, on the margins of the leaves. As usual, Rabbi Kook writes in poetic-biblical style; often, his comments spread over large parts of the page. All comments are hand-signed by him.  Otzar Hachessed Keren Shmuel was founded in Jerusalem in 1906 as a charity institution of the Vaad haklali Knesset Yisrael, commemorating the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant, the Rav of Jerusalem. Its main activity was the giving of interest-free loans to support the Jewush settlement in the town.  In the 1920s, when this ledger was written, the fund became a central factor in the project of establishing a modern neighborhood in Jerusalem. Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook, the Cheif Rabbifo Eretz Yisrael, served as the honorary president of the fund. Thus, his handwriting appears frequently in this hsitorical ledger.  Specifications: Large, thick ledger, 20X33 cm. approx. 100 written pages with thousands of lines of account, decisions, signatures and more. With dozens of lines handwritten by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook and many of his signatures.  Very good condition.
