Extremely Rare: Booklet of Takanot of the Chevrat Yishuv Eretz Hakodesh - Jerusalem, 1896 - Pedigreed Copy, Numbered and Signed - Chevrat Yishuv Eretz Hakodesh -, the Press of Rabbi Yisrael Dov Frumkin. Jerusalem, 1896. An extremely rare booklet; in the Rare Book Collection of the National Library. A single copy of the booklet was auctioned once in the past.  The organization was established in 1896, a time of famine and financial distress, to help the young of Jerusalem find work and not rely on the ”Chalukah” institutions.  The book is the founding document of the organization containing its regulations, conditions for joining and the activity of the members of the Old Yishuv who want to engage in farming.  The booklet describes the success of the organization in sending approx. 30 workers, Jerusalem residents, to work in the settlements of Rechovot, Gederah, Rishon LeZion and Petach Tikvah.  A rare and important historical document describing an early attempt of the members of the Old Yishuv to become productive  as farmers in the late 19th century.  This is a copy of the famed activist Rabbi Aharon Simchah Blumenthal, who was a key figure in these initiatives. On the last page is his membership icertificate no. 270, with his handwritten name and ink stamp of the organization.  16 pp. 13 cm. Perfect copy with a green title cover and a membership certificate. Good-very good condition. Aging stains.  *** Rabbi Aharon Simchah Blumenthal was born in 1870 in Hungary. Innigrated to Eretz Yisrael as a child. In 1883 he was one of the first students of the Torat Chaim Yeshiva of Rabbi Yitzchak Winograd. Was one of the important activists of Jerusalem who worked to establish institutuins and organization to benefit the Yishuv.
