First Time Auctioned! The Rare Work against Reform Judaism: Lahat Hacherev- Vienna, 1820 - Sefer Lahat Hacherev (also known as Lahat Hacherev hamithapechet). A sharp pole, ic work written by Rabbi Meir Leibush Reinitz of Tzintz. [Vienna], 1820.  In response to the bans issued by all Gedolei Hador, headed by the Chasam Sofer, against the Reform Temple, one of the ”Temple” leaders, Meir Yisrael Bresslau, published a book titled Cherev Nokemet Nakam Brit. As a counter-response, the author Rabbi Meir Leibush Reinitz published Lahat HaCherev to answer and serve as a counterweight to Bresslau's book. The book is considered one of the most important statements of defense of Orthodoxy in the early 19th century. It is written in a scholarly and fiercely rhetorical style, proving that any change in the prayer text or synagogue customs poses a danger to the continuity of Judaism. This work is the rarest of the three first works that were published against Reform Judaism during the Temple Polemic in Hamburg - the conflict regarding the establishment of the first Reform Synagogue (the Heichal - Temple) which adopted changes in the text of the prayer and brought an organ into the synagogue.  [The twp other works, Eleh Divrei Habrit and Et Ledaber (1819) were auctioned several times in the past and are not so rare].  This book is so rare that it was never auctioned. It is in the Rare Book Collection of the National Library and on the item's page in the library it was written that the book is incomplete - leaves 17 and onward are missing. The book was printed in Vienna; on the website of the National Library, however, it is written by mistake that it was printed in Krakow.  33 leaves. 20 cm.   Good condiiton. Moth perforations, mainly to the book's lining. Partly detached binding.
