Background: During the years 1905-1906, there was a wave of violent anti-Jewish riots - pogroms, the most prominet of them being the one in Bialystok in June 1906. The pogroms, which were partly carried out by Black Hundreds groups, were a reaction to the Russian Revolution. They included murder, looting, and the destruction of Jewish communities in the Pale of Settlement, including the town of Siedlce. 2. Megillat Puranuyot .
