He was a disicple of Maran the Beit Halevi of Brisk. Was the son-in-law of Rabbi Yerucham Leib Perlman he was also known as the Gadol fo Minsk.  In the book, the author accuses non-religious Jews for bringing Rabbeinu closer to his death: ”הנה גלוי וידוע לכלנו כי הגאון הגדול הנ”ל לא הגיע.. לימי זקנה... וסיבת הגרמת קירוב מיתתו היתה ע”י הרשעים קלי הדעת... פרקי עול תורה מצווארם.... באיזה ימים קודם פטירתו כתב... קצתי בחיי מנגישות ורדיפות על דת תורה”ק מצד הרשעים הללו עיני רואות וכלות ואין לאל ידי להושיע...”.
