Shut Ta'alumot Lev Two Sections - First Edition in the Author's Lifetime Livorno 1879-1893 - Shut Ta'alumot Lev - two sections - by the famed Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Chazan Av Beit Din of Alexandria -  Livorno 1879-1893 - first edition in the author's lifetime.  The two sections were printed int he author's lifetime:  Section I. Eliyahu ben Amozag Press, Livorno, 1879. [2], 112 leaves.  Section II. Yisrael Kushta Press. Livorno, 1893. [1], 76, 2, [2] leaves.  Late bindings. Good condiiton.  Ten years later, Section III was published in Alexandria, Egypt.  The author: the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Chazan, one of the leaders of Eastern Jewry in the late 19th century. As a young Avrech served as Av Beit Din of the Sephardic community of Jerusalem. Later, he served as the Chief Rabbi of Tripoli and then as Rav of Alexandria. Rabbeinu authored several Piyyutim including the famed Piyyut ”Ochil Yom Yom Eshta'eh”.  The version Rabbeinu used on the title page to describe how he wrote his Responsa is most interesting: ”והשבתי בהלכה לפי מה שהורוני מן השמים” !!!!
