Toldot Yischak - Rare Booklet on the History of the Jews of Italy during the Nepoleon Wars - Krakow, 1892 - Toldot Yischak - ”the story of the hardships that had befallen a Jewish man named Yissachar Chaim Courfi - published from a manuscript by Yosef Chaim Yare - Krakow, 1892 - single ediiton.  During the period described by the author in his book, Italy was torn to shreds, subjected to the rule of Spain and France, and plagued by internal rebellions and conflicts. The author describes his flight from city to city, his imprisonment, and his journeys at sea. In picturesque language, he describes Italy's fall into the hands of Napoleon: ”ויהי לתקופת הימים זרח בחושך אור לישרים, השמש יצא מחדרו ועל ארצנו הופיע אורו, ביום בא המושיע בגבולותינו, כל בני יעקב יחדו ירננו, הלא הוא בן פרת... (כינוי מקורי ל”בנפורטה”) אשר בא ממצרים כאשר ידאה הנשר לרמוס כל קושר קשר... ולפניו נפלו כל אויבים, כמוץ לפני רוח נפזרים...”.[ And it came to pass at the turn of the year, light dawned in the darkness for the upright, the sun emerged from its chamber and its light appeared upon our land; on the day the savior arrived within our borders, all the sons of Jacob sang together, is he not Ben Porat...
