The Rebbe's Blessing for the Third Birthday 'Upshernish' [Chalakeh] with His Handwritten Signature - Ta, uz 15, 1971 - Typewritten letter on the Rebbe's official stationery, from Ta, uz 15, 1971. With a blessing for a child's third birthday known as Upshenish or Chalakeh: ”אודות יום ההולדת השלישי של בנם... הנה מועתק לקמן קטע ממכתב כ”ק מו”ח אדמו”ר [הרבי הריי”צ] בנוגע למנהג ישראל זה” [About their son's third birthday... a passage from a letter by the Admor [the Rebbe the Rayatz] pertaining to this Jewish custom] is hereby copied.  The Rebbe blesses ”ויה”ר מהשי”ת שיגדלו ביחד עם זוג' תי' לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים מתוך הרחבה. בברכה ...”. With the Rebbe's handwritten signature.  At the end, as stated, is a copied passage from a letter by the Rebbe the Rayatz: ”...ובדבר גזיזת השערות - אפשערעניש - הוא דבר גדול במנהג ישראל ועיקרו הוא בהחינוך דהשארת פיאות הראש...” [about the cutting of the hair - Upshernish - it is a great Jewish custom and its underlying obective is to leaves the sidelocks...]. The Rebbe the Rayatz writes that following the Chalakeh, the child should start wearing a Tzitzit and saying the Birkot Hashachar, Birkat Hamazon and Kerita Shema ak Hamitah. And he ends with a blessing: ”והשי”ת יהי' בעזרם שיגדלוהו לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים, מתוך פרנסה ברחבה ובמנוחת הדעת בגשמיות וברוחניות”. [1] leaf. 28X21.5 cm.
