Tanya Given Directly by the Rebbe on His 80th Birthday - the 11th of Nissan 1982 - Sefer Likutei Amarim Tanya by the Admor Hazaken Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, a special edition with a bibliographic section and photocopies of previous Tanya editions, published for the Rebbe's 80th birthday on the 11th of Nissan - New York, 1982. The spine of the binding is blemished and partly dusmantled. Very good overall condition. The recipient's identity is unknown to us. The 11th of Nissan, the 80th birthday, was one of the greatest occasions in the history of Lubavitch. On the 11th of Nissan 1982, thousands of guests from all over the world gathered in 770 for the Hitva'adut. This Hitva'adut is remembered as one of those with the largest number of participants ever. Before the Hitva'adut ended, the Rebbe announced the Chalukah of this edition of the Tanya and a dollar banknote - to each and every one of the participants - as a token of appreciation. The Chalukah continued to the early hours of the next morning. During the Chalukah, the Admor took a book in his right hand and then handed it out with his left hand. After the Chalukah, the Rebbe was asked what should be done with the remaining Tanyas (approx. 3000 copies). He replied that he will answer the question after returning from the Ohel. After he returned, he said they should be sold at a cheap price to the public and asked that the date on the title page of Nissan 11 be changed to Nissan 13. (See more: Mazkeret Netzach, pp. 14-15).
