Dozens of Glosses and Corrections Handwritten by the Famed Chassidim Rabbi Asher Yechezkel and His Son Rabbi Yeshaya Horowitz of Safed on Shulchan Aruch Harav Hilchot Pesach - Chernovich, 1860 - Shulchan Aruch Admor Hazaken, Orach Chaim Section IV on Hilchot Pesach. The Press of Rabbi Meshulam Heller, Chernovich, 1860. 136 leaves. In this copy, leaves 65-68 are missing; their content was completed at the end of the book with leaves from an early edition of Shulchan Aruch Harav. Taping. Stains and some other blemishes. Old binding with a leather spine. Good overall condition.  On the title page of the book, the handwritten signatures of the Famed Chassidim from Safed, Rabbi Asher Yechezkel Halevi Ish Horowitz and his son Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz. Throughout the book, dozens of corrections, references and glosses handwritten by these Chassidim.  *** The Chassid Rabbi Asher Yechezkel Halevi Horowitz (before 1860-1929), tenth generation from Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz Baal HaShelah, fifth generation from the Admor Hazaken Baal Hatanya and a descendant of the Tzemach Tzeddek and the Admorim of Karlin, Chernobyl and Amdor. Rabbi Asher Yechezkel was the Memuneh of the Chalukah of Kollel Chabad of Safed and an important Chabad Chassid. He tried to open a Chabadic yeshiva in Safed, yet failed to do so due to financial difficulties.  The Gaon Chassid Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz (1883-1978) the son of Rabbi Asher Yechezkel Halevi Horowitz and the son-in-law of Rabbi Yitzchak Loberbaum the grandson of the Rav of Safed, Rabbi Shmuel Heller. Since 1908, served as the Rav of the Chabadic community of Safed and Rav of the Tzemach Tzeddek Synagogue of the town.  Due to financial difficulties, in 1922, Rabbi Horowitz was forced to leave to Canada, where he served for over thirty years as the head of the rabbis of Winnipeg and the Chief Rabbi of Western Canada.  Authored important books including Yavo Shiloh, Pardes HaAretz and Eden Zion. In 1953, he returned to Israel. His son is the famed Chassid Rabbi Shmuel Horowirtz - an important Breslov Rav and Mashpi'a.
