Letter after the Passing of the Rayatz Handwritten and Signed by the Chassid Rabbi MenachemZeev Greenglass - Adar, 1950 - Letter handwritten and signed by the Chassid Rabbi MenachemZeev Greenglass. Sent from Montreal on Ta'anit Ester, 1950. Addressed to the famed Chassid Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz, the Rav of the Chabad community of Safed and Chief Rabbi of Western Canada. At the beginning of the letter, Rabbi Greenglass exptresses his great sorrow for the passing of the Rayatz, about a month before this letter: ”מפאת השבר הגדול והנורא שקרה אותנו בהלקח מאתנו מחמד נפשינו גאון עוזינו ועטרת ראשינו כ”ק אדמו”ר זצוקללה”ה נבג”מ זי”ע הכ”ם, לא מלאתי עד עכשיו חובתי בהזמן, שילוח בחזרה את ספריו ואת הכתבי קודש...”. Rabbi Greenglass notes that the Rebbe the Rayatz had manged to go over the things sent by Rabbi Horowitz: ”ועכשיו הנני שולחם... אחר אשר כ”ק אדמו”ר נבג”מ ביקר וראה אותם...”.  He asks Rabbi Horowitz, ”היות שיקר אצלינו - חסידי חב”ד - כתבי יד רבותינו הק' וזאת אולי כבוד מעלתו הרמה יהנה אותי בשילוח אלי על כל פנים שני עלים מכתבי יד קודש הצמח צדק נ”ע זי”ע, וזה יהיה לי לאות ולמופת ולמשמרת הצלחה בכל עניני בכלל ובפרט...”. Good overall condition.  *** The Chassid Rabbi Menachem Zeev (Wolf) Greenglass (1917-2011) an enthusiastic and devoted Chassid who served as a mashpi'a of the Tomechei Temimim Yeshiva and the Chabad community of Montreal. Was one of the editors of Sefer Haminhagim and a Mekubal of stature.
