Rare! Kuntres Given Direcly by the Rebbe and a General Letter with Additions Handwritten by the Rebbe before Reciving the Nessi'ut! Tishrei 13, 1950 - Rare! Kuntres that was sent by the Rebbe before receiving the Nessi'ut! Including the enclosed letter with additions handwritten by the Rebbe.  Igeret Kodesh by the Rebbe, a general-personal letter, on the stationery of Machaneh Yisrael from Tishrei 13, 1950, in the year of the passing of the Rebbe the Rayatz, before the Rebbe recieved the Nessi'ut, with additions handwritten by the Rebbe at the beginning of the letter: ”ש”ב [שאר בשרי] הרה”ג ו... הלוי”. The letter was sent to the famed Chassid the Gaon Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz, the Rav of the Chabad community of Safed and the Chief Rabbi of Western Canada. The letter is mimeographed and includes the Rebbe's photocopied signature. In the letter, the Rebbe refers to the enclosed Kuntres:” מוסגר בזה [=מצורף בזאת] הקונטרס לחג הסוכות הבע”ל [הבא עלינו לטובה], הכולל מאמר ושיחה מכתב ולקוט מנהגים, והוא לזכות בו את הרבים כל אחד מסביבתו באופן המתאים ...”. He then expands on the importance of unity on the Tishrei festivals and ends with a blessing for the upcoming Sukkot: ”בברכת חג שמח והצלחה לזכות את הרבים שיעשו כולם אגודה אחת לעשות רצון אבינו שבשמים בלבב שלם”. As stated in the letter, enclosed in the Chag Sukkot Kuntres by the Admor the Rayatz - Kuntres given directly by the Rebbe even before the era of the Chalukot! Rabbi Horowitz made notations throughout the letter and Kuntres, apparently in preparation to teach it to his community at in accordance with the Rebbe's request: ”לזכות בו את הרבים”.   [1] letter + Kuntres. Good overall condition.  *** The Gaon Chassid Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz (1883-1978) the son of Rabbi Asher Yechezkel Halevi Horowitz and the son-in-law of Rabbi Yitzchak Loberbaum the grandson of the Rav of Safed, Rabbi Shmuel Heller. Since 1908, served as the Rav of the Chabadic community of Safed and Rav of the Tzemach Tzeddek Synagogue of the town.  Due to financial difficulties, in 1922, Rabbi Horowitz was forced to leave to Canada, where he served for over thirty years as the head of the rabbis of Winnipeg and the Chief Rabbi of Western Canada.  Authored important books including Yavo Shiloh, Pardes HaAretz and Eden Zion. In 1953, he returned to Israel. His son is the famed Chassid Rabbi Shmuel Horowirtz - an important Breslov Rav and Mashpi'a.
