Exciting Discovery of the Lost Bei'ur on the Tanya! Manuscript that was Never Published with an Elucidation on Sefer HaTanya by the Gaon Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz the Grandson of the Shelah and an Important Chabadic Rav - ”... וכבר הוא רב לעדה חב”ד בפה עיר הקודש תובב”א ושוקד יום ולילה על התורה...  כי הרב הזה הוא באמת אין דוגמתו בזמנינו בתורה וביראה בכל הגליל” [...and he is already Rav of the Chabad community here in the Holy City and labors day and night in the study of Torah... for this Rav is truly without match in our time in Torah and Yirah in the entire Galilee].  Exciting discovery and first-ever disclosure : comprehensive manuscript of 82 pp. with a commentary that has never been printed on part of Sefer HaTanya. The work is handwritten by the Gaon Chassid Rabbi yeshaya Halevi Horowitz - a direct descendant of the Shelah Hakadosh and of the Tzemach Tzedek. The manuscript was apparently written in Israel in the 1960s.  This is an unknown work by an important Chabad Rav; Rabbi yeshaya served as the rav of the Chabad community of Safed and as a member of the Beit Din of the Ridbaz. Later, he served as the Chief Rabbi of Western Canada.  The existence of the work was known from the writings of his son, Rabbi Shmuel Horowiz, an important Breslov Chassid, who wrote (Yemei Shmuel I, p. 5):  ”וכשחזר זקני זכרונו לברכה לביתו, כבר מצא אותו כלי שלם בש”ס ופוסקים וביראת שמים, אבל מחסידות לא ידע, ואז דבר זקני על לבו שיקח את עצמו לחסידות חב”ד, ומאז נעשה גדול גם בזה, וידע בעל פה את ספר התניא, וגם חיבר פרוש על התניא והוא עדין בכתב יד”. Until now, however, the work was never seen and never published.  This is an extraordinary and important historical discovery: an elucidation by a leading Ma'atik Shemu'ah on a book by the Admor Hazaken.  Among the leaves of the bbok, we found an important nore handwritten by the author containing a Segulah by th eBaal Shem Tov to be rescued in time of danger.  Lined notebook, 17X21 cm. [40] leaves written on both sides (82 written pp., including the inside boards]. Minor blemishes. Good overall condition.  *** The Gaon Chassid Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz (1883-1978) the son of Rabbi Asher Yechezkel Halevi Horowitz and the son-in-law of Rabbi Yitzchak Loberbaum the grandson of the Rav of Safed, Rabbi Shmuel Heller. Since 1908, served as the Rav of the Chabadic community of Safed and Rav of the Tzemach Tzeddek Synagogue of the town. About a year later, he joined the Beit Din of his Rav, the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov David Wilkovsky (the Ridbaz), who greatly praised him, writing that this Rav is truly without match in our time in Torah and Yirah in the entire Galilee.  Due to financial difficulties, in 1922, Rabbi Horowitz was forced to leave to Canada, where he served for over thirty years as the head of the rabbis of Winnipeg and the Chief Rabbi of Western Canada.  Authored important books including Yavo Shiloh, Pardes HaAretz and Eden Zion. In 1953, he returned to Israel. His son is the famed Chassid Rabbi Shmuel Horowirtz - an important Breslov Rav and Mashpi'a.
