About Baal HaTanya and His Disciples: Toldot Anshei Shem - a Rare Chassididc Book in Yiddish - Cleveland, 1939 - Toldot Anshei Shem - collection of stories about Chassidim and Tzaddikim, told for the first time in Yiddish, by Rabbi Yehoshua Rocker. Cleveland, 1939. Rare edition containing biographies and stories about leading Chassidic rabbis, especially the first rabbis of Chabad.   In the center of the book, a chapter dedicated tp the Admor Hazaken Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, Baal HaTnaya, featuring his biography and stories about him alongside chapters about his rabbis and friends - the Maggid of Mezeritch, Rabbi Avraham Hamalach, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitebsk, Rabbi Baruch of Mezhibuzh and more - depicting the funding generation of Chassidut and general and Chabad in particular.  The book also contains chapters on the Tzaddikim of Hungary and Galicia including among others the Chasam Sofer and his sons, the Yismach Moshe, the Chozeh of Lublin, the Yitav lev, Rabbi Lipa Teitelbaum, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Liska, Rabbi Meir of Prmishlan, the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, Rabbi Hillel of Kolomyia and Rabbi Yeshayaleh of Krestir.  This book was published for Yiddish-speaking readers and it preserves tradition, stories and popular description of leading Chassidic rabbis, some of which were published here for the first time in simple language.  Cleveland, 1939. 215, [2] pp. Yiddish. 21 cm.  Good condition.
