Was the chairman of Mo'etzet Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel in the USA, Rosh Metivta of Tiferet Yerushalayim and president of the Union of Rabbis of the USA and Canada. Authored the basic series of books Shut Igrot Moshe as well as Dibrot Moshe on the Shas. His coffin was brought to Israel and buried on Purim. Famed is his response to the claim that he has no ”Da'at Torah”. Rabbeinu, in Igrot Moshe, wrote that he never read a newspaper or book or anything else other than the Torah so how could he have an opinion that was not Torah?!
