Sacred Amulet - Awe-Inspiring Prayer Handwritten by Rabbeinu Yaakov Chaim Sofer the Kaf Hachaim - ”וִיהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ ה' או”א שֶׁבְּכֹחַ סְגֻלַּת בִּרְכַּת הַמַּפִּיל... וּלְהוֹרִיד שֶׁפַע גָּדוֹל עִם ג' הויו”ת דמילוי יודי”ן... אֶל מַזָּל הַשְּׁמִינִי... לִיסוֹד דְּמֶלָּכוּת רָבוּעַ הוי”ה פְּשׁוּטָה... וּלְהַמְשִׁיךְ שֶׁפַע וְהֶאָרָה גְּדוֹלָה... אָנָּא ה' חָגוּר חַרְבְּךָ וּכְאַרְיֵה תִּשְׁאַג לְעֻמָּתָם... וְהַצֵּל תַּצִּיל וְלֹא יִדַּח מִמֶּנּוּ נִדַּח” A unique Kabbalistic item: an awe-inspiring prayer, which has never been auctioned, authored and  handwritten by the Gaon and Mekubal Rabbeinu Yaakov Chaim Sofer of Baghdad, author of the Kaf Hachaim, one of the leading Eastern Sages of recent generations [Baghdad, late 19th century - early 20th century].  The prayer is to be said before bedtime, after the Hamapil blessing of Keri'at Shema al Hamitah. Its goal is to attract Divine abundance, protection against demons and cancellation of persecution and hatred.  This manuscript, on approx. a page and a half - approx. 370 words [!] - was handwritten entirely by the Kaf Hachaim and is a complete, structrured version of a deep Kabbalistic prayer.  The printed was printed verbatim in his book Kaf Hachaim, Orach Chaim section. Hilchot Keri'at Shema of Aravit, Siman 237 (leaf 184a, Jerusale, 1905 edition).  In addition to its historical and kabbalistic value, this rare amulet was handwritten by the author. The original manuscript can be kept at home for protection and moreover, its version can be read as a sublime Segulah.  It shoudl be noted whereas Chidushei Torah by the Kaf Hachaim are often auctioned, his Kabbalistic manuscripts are most rare and all the more so, a complete and awe-inspiring prayer such as this one.  [1] leaf, written on both sides. Approx. 12X21 cm. Handwritten entirely by the Kaf Hachaim. Placed in a fine new leather binding.  Good condition. Some tears not affecting the text, professionally restored with acid-free tape, which even over the years does not damage the paper.   *** The Gaon and Mekubal Rabbi Yaakov Chaim Sofer (1870-1939), the son of Rabbi Yitzchak Baruch. Was born in Baghdad, where he was a disciple of Rabbi Abdallah Somech and Rabbi Yosef Chaim (the Ben Ish Chai). He was a sage of Baghdad and Jerusalem and a leading Posek, author of the series of halachic books titled the Kaf HaChaim, which was known as the Sephardic Mishnah Berurah. He spent his days studying Torah and writing his work in the attic of the Shoshanim LeDavid synagogue in Jerusalem, founded by the Ben Ish Chai, where he was saved miraculously during an earthquake in Jerusalem. Besides being a contemporary Posek Hador, he was known as a wonder-worker Mekubal, as indicated by Rabbi Yehuda Tzedakah, who recalled: “Every Shabbos his shape would change unrecognizably!” He authored additional works: Chaim Ad HaOlam on the ends of masechtot, Kol Yaakov on Hilachot Stam, Chukei Chaim with Drashot for varied events and Yagel Yaakov with chiddushim on the Torah.
