Impressive set, four sections in elegant leather bindings.  This is one of the foundations stones of Hebrew printing - the edition that established the version of the Rambam and the format of the leaf and in which the great commentary by Maran the Bweit Yosef, the Kesef Mishneh, was published for the first time.  By the instruction of the Beit Yosef, the commentary was meticulously edited by the Rema of Fano, whereas the version of the Rambam was edited by Rabbi Avraham Menachem Porto of Verona, author of the Minchah Belulah. Therefore, it is considered one of the most precise and important editions of the Rambam which were printed.  Three historical innovations were included in this edition, making it one of the most important editions of the Rambam that were ever printed.  * The Kesef Mishneh commentary - printed here for the first time .  The great commentary by Maran Rabbi Yosef karo, author of the Beit Yosef was published here for the first time. Ever since, it became a foundational commentary on the Mishneh Torah.  * The version of the Rambam - edited according to precise manuscripts .  For the first time, the editing of the Rambam's version was based on manuscripts from Eretz Yisrael and the Yeshiva in Egypt and thousands of errors were corrected. Therefore, this edition is also considered a textual cornerstone.  * The format of the leaf  This edition established the familiar format of the Rambam: the Kesef Mishneh on one side and the Maggid Mishneh on the other - a format that was adopted by all following editions of the Rambam.  This edition was edited and printed under the watchful eye of Maran the Beit Yosef himself. The author himself, who was living in Safed, sent the work to be printed in Venice, appointing the Rema of Fano to supervise the printing, as written on verso of the title page of the first volume.  During the printing, on Nissan 13 1575, the author passed away; the first three volumes were printed in his lifetime. The fourth volume was completed only after his passing. At its end, words of grief and lament for his passing were printed by the editor of the book.  Alongside the Kesef Mishneh, printed here for the first time are also Hasagot Ravad.
