Fascinating Letter by the Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib Gurevich Rosh Yeshiva of Gateshead - England, 1962 - Lengthy letter with fascinating content by the Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib Gurevich the Rosh Yeshiva of Gateshead, to the Gaon Rabbi Hillel Medalia. Gateshead, 1962.  The letter contains Divrei Torah - domments and deep Chidushim on the Sugya of Din Kdimah Lecohen Am HaAretz over a Talmid Chacham, following Rabbi Hillel Medalia's book which was published at the time.  In addition to his scholarly comments on the book, Rabbi Gurevich adds an important historical-technical comment about a bibliographic detail appearing in the book:  ”בכתבו תולדות גיסו זצוק”ל שהזכיר שם מהכולל דסלר וכתב שמו ר' ראובן זאב ובאמת היה שמו ר' ראובן דוב, וראוי להעיר על זה כי זה מכבד את המעיינים שיש להם חוש היסטורי”. At the beginning of the letter, there is an interesting reference to the common custom of sending payment to a book's author when the book was given as a gift. Rabbi Gurevich explains why he is not sendign payment for the book he had received, being appreciative of the author's spiritual motives:  ”אף כי יודע אני כי מן הנימוס היה עלי לתת לכ”ג את שכרו של הספר... אולם חוששני לפגום בכ”ג אם אבוא על שכרו, כי מובטחני כי כונה אחרת עילאית היתה לכ”ג... והוא הפצת תורתו של המחבר”. This letter reflects Rabbi Gurevich' figure, which combined deep scholarly study, attention to historical details and reverence of Hafatzat Torah.  [1] leaf, written on both sides. 20.5X12.5 cm.
