Letter by Maran the Mashgi'ach Rabbi Yechezkel Levenstein to Rabbi Shmuel Houminer Author of Eved Hamelech - Bnei Berak, 1956 - Fascinating letter of Mussar hanwritten and signed by the famed Mashgi'ach Rabbi Yechezkel Levenstein - a foremost contemporary Baal Mussar. The letter is addressed to the Gaon Tzaddik Rabbi Shmuel Houminer, author of Eved Hamelech. Bnei Berak, 1956.  Although Rabbi Yechezkel Levenstein lived modestly and did not have much money, in his letter, he informs Rabbi Shmuel Houminer of a donation of twenty Lirot he is sending for the Kollle.  In addition to the charitable act itself, this letter indicates the ethical world of the Mashgi'ach. His words indicate his Dikduk in Dinei Mussar and his Yirat Shamayim.   Thus, out of a concern lest an impression of a permanent commitment or a vow for a Mitzvah be created, he repeatedly emphasizes that the donation is given for the time being only and does not constitute a formal obligation: ”אך לעת עתה ולא בגדר התחייבות... כן לעת עתה לא בקביעות”.  After his signature, the Mashgi'ach adds a request indicating his humility:  ”כמובן כי אין מהמוכרח לדעת מי הוא הנותן הנ”ל להם”. Stains on the margins.  *** Maran the Mashgi'ach Rabbi Yechezkel Levenstein (1885-1974) a leading contemporary Baal Mussar who served as the Mashgi'ach of the Mir, Lomzhe and Ponevezh yeshivas. WAs known for his Prishut and devoted and pure Avodat Hashe. His writings words were compiled in the Or Yechezkel series of books.
