Given as a Gift by the Wonder-Work Rabbi Shalom of Schotz - Shapira Press Zhitomir, 1861 - Sefer Menorat HaMaor, an ancient Mussar book, by Rabbeinu Yitzchak Abohav I, with the Nefesh Yehuda commentary and a Hebrew-Teitch translation. Zhitomir, 1861. The Press of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shapira, the grandson of the rav of Slavuta.  Pedigreed copy of the wonder-worker the Admor Rabbi Shalon of Schotz, who gave the book as a gift to his granddaughter, Rebbetzing Chayah Sarah (the wife of Rabbi Raphael Halberstam the son of the son-in-law of the Rav of Schotz Rabbi Yaakov Halberstam, the First Admor of Tshokova). On the front flyleaf, there is a touching ownership notation: ” מתנה מכ״ק אא״ז הרה״צ שליט״א בלונדון, קיץ תשט״ו . חי׳ שרה הלברשטאם, ירושלים”. Based on the early printing date, it can be assumed that this copy was owned by the Admor of Schotz since his early years. In 1955, two years only before his passing, the Rebbe gave the book to his granddaughter as a gift.  426 leaves. 26 cm. Some of the title page with red lettering. The Hebrew-Teitch commentary is vowelized. The first and last leaves have been cleaned and professionally restored. Stains and other minor blemishes, some of them slightly affecting the text in some places. Old half-leather binding. Good overall condition.  *** The Admor Rabbi Shalom Moskovich of Schotz (1878-1958) a descendant of he Maggid of Zlotshov. He was a Gadol in Nigleh, Nistar, and Halacha. In his youth he received his Semicha from the Maharsham of Berezhan who lauded him. He also authored Halachic works. In 1930 he moved to London and became famed as the Admor of Schotz. In his will he guaranteed that mercy would fall upon all who visited his grave and accepted upon himself to become stronger in Mitzvot and lighting candles. He also requested a very modest gravestone without titles or the word “Tzaddik”.
