Get Pashut, published by Rabbi Hanina Lipa Shapira of Zhitomir—Sadilkov 1833, with interesting signatures and notes - A work on the halachot of gittin by Rabbi Moshe ben Habibi of Jerusalem. With endorsement of Rabbi Haim Rapaport, the Av Beit Din of Ostraha, who notes that it was printed by “the Avrech HaNaggid Rav Hanina Lipa son of the wondrous sage the famous Naggid Rav Shmuel Avraham of Slavita.” Additional endorsement from rabbis of Constantinople. The cover has a number of notes of ownership, with the name “Yaakov ben Yehuda who resides in Bauska (see below), plus the stamp: “Biblioteka shel Kollel Kovna.” Additional stamps on the endorsement page and at the end weren’t checked, and there are a lot of handwritten notes throughout the book. [2], 74, 34 pages. Front binding is detached, no spine, stains, a few bits of moth holes, generally good condition. Rabbi Yaakov Benditman of Bauska (c. 1790-1861) was the son of Rabbi Yehuda, he was orphaned at a young age and grew up under the tutelage of his elder, Rabbi Shmuel Chassid of Rasin, a student of the Gra. He was also a student of his uncle, Rabbi Eliyahu Klikaller/Piltener. He was rabbi of Neistaat in place of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman ben Eliyahu ben Avraham, the Gra’s brother, and in 1831 he was appointed to the rabbinate of Šiauliai/Bauska, which he held for more than 30 years. He would leave chiddushim in manuscript and mention things he heard plus actions of the Gra which he heard from his elder. His grandson Rabbi Yehuda Lukageitzky (Liknietzky?) published some of his writings in the book Zikaron Yaakov—Vilna 1874. He also wrote Torat Chassidim. The Otzar HaRabbanim lists him as the son-in-law of Rabbi Shmuel Chassid, not his grandson. He appears as one of the endorsers of the Slavita Shas.
