Boys Brigade interest - A Boys Life Brigade Cross for Courage medal, awarded for life saving to PTE W.Sharpe of the 10th Company Leeds BLB dated May 1924. The medal was presented to Sharpe by The Duke Of York at Alexandra palace in London. Newpaper reports read that ”At great personal risk and with much presence of mind, Sharp rescued a young child who would otherwise have been killed by a tramcar.” A rare award, with only 11 such crosses recorded to have been issued before the BLB merged with the regular Boy's Brigade.
