Pair of quadrangular plaques with portraits of the Doges of Venice Embossed and engraved brass - Pair of quadrangular decorative brass plaques, depicting two famous figures from Venetian history. Each plaque features a central circular medallion within which a Doge is portrayed in profile, identifiable by typical iconographic attributes such as the Doge's Horn (the ceremonial headdress): Left plaque: Depicts Doge Galbaio (or similar figure, as indicated by the inscription in the cartouche). Right plaque: Depicts Doge Angelo Partecipazio (Angelo Partecipazio, a historical figure from the 9th century), as can be seen from the inscription engraved on the ribbon/cartouche accompanying the bust. The figures are created with fine engraving work for the details of the garments and faces. The border frame is richly decorated in relief with punching motifs and floral scrolls at the corners, which give three-dimensionality and a typically Neo-Renaissance taste.
