”Egg-shaped” toiletry necessaire in green and blue opaline French manufacture (Palais Royal style), 19th century - A rare and precious travel or table necessaire in the shape of an opening egg. The outer casing is made of precious apple green opaline, decorated with small gilded floral motifs. The structure, operated by a refined gilded brass mechanism, opens like a corolla, revealing two perfume bottles inside. The bottles are made of milky blue opaline, housed within finely embossed brass mountings with acanthus leaf motifs. The entire mechanism is supported by a central stem culminating in a circular grip ring, allowing the object to be carried. The base consists of a solid quadrangular plinth in white marble or alabaster. These objects, masterpieces of micro-engineering and decorative taste, were sold in the luxurious boutiques of the Palais Royal in Paris and were intended for the aristocracy of the time.
