Bidspirit auction | Lot composed of two finely
Lot composed of two finely relief-worked plaques, characterized by a refined academic aesthetic - Rectangular plaque in ”Jasperware” style: Made of opaque ceramic with a gray-blue background and cream-colored relief figures. The scene portrays a group of mythological figures or muses immersed in a bucolic landscape, with a lyre player on the left. The style and bichromy refer to the celebrated English manufacture Wedgwood. On the base, lower right, a signature is visible Oval shaped biscuit plaque: Depicting an allegorical scene with a reclining female figure (perhaps Psyche or a nymph) caressed by a winged putto (Cupid). The plaque is distinguished by the whiteness of the biscuit and the delicacy of the anatomical details and drapery, typical of late 19th-century European manufactures
