Important French ”Barbotine” Vase with Roses and Allegorical Masks, 40 cm - Refined example of French artistic ceramic made with the Barbotine technique (a mixture of liquid clay modeled and applied in relief), dating back to the Art Nouveau / early twentieth century period. The vase features a globular body with an ”iced” or textural finish in shades of blue and gray, topped by a wide, flared corolla-shaped mouth. The central plastic decoration depicts a large yellow rose in full bloom, surrounded by naturalistic foliage. On the sides of the composition emerge two sculptural masks (one male and one female) of theatrical inspiration. Early 20th century.
