Bidspirit auction | ”Albatros” Art Deco Bronze Table
”Albatros” Art Deco Bronze Table Clock – Marble and Onyx Base 18 cm - Refined sculptural table clock, a masterful example of the Art Deco style of the 1930s. The work harmoniously blends mechanical precision with sculptural dynamism, celebrating the theme of flight and freedom typical of the avant-garde movements of the era. The Sculpture: Made of bronze with a warm brown patina, it depicts a seagull or an albatross caught in the act of skimming the water. The lines are taut and aerodynamic, with a stylization of the feathers that emphasizes the sense of speed. The Movement: The bird seems to support or point towards a small spherical clock positioned on the base. The dial, in a delicate powder pink hue, features black Roman numerals and a ”chemin de fer” minute track, protected by a domed glass. The Base: The work rests on a double-layered rectangular base, composed of a slab of light onyx superimposed on a base of black Belgian marble. The chromatic contrast between the materials emphasizes the elegance of the ensemble. Materials: Patinated bronze, onyx, black marble. Dimensions: Height 18 cm. Style: Art Deco. Era: Circa 1930 - 1940. Condition: Excellent; the bronze patina is original and shows no signs of oxidation, the base is intact without chipping.
