Bidspirit auction | Jean-Simon Peynaud – Art Nouveau

Jean-Simon Peynaud – Art Nouveau Cameo Glass Vase ”Wisteria” - The Technique: The vase is made of multi-layered cameo glass, acid-etched. The surface has a frosted texture that softly diffuses light, typical of high-period French production. The Decoration: The composition is dominated by elegant flowering wisteria branches. The hanging clusters are rendered with intense blue and violet shades, while the foliage at the base and along the body of the vase shifts towards warm tones of orange, rust, and brown, creating a dynamic chromatic contrast. The Form: The vase features an organic and sinuous inverted baluster shape, with a wide circular base that narrows into a slender neck. The piece is completed by a rare silver-plated metal stopper/collar with embossed workmanship that echoes wood grain, adding a tactile touch to the ensemble. Technical Sheet: Artist: Jean-Simon Peynaud (active in Bordeaux between 1910-1930). Material: Multi-layered acid-etched glass and silver-plated metal. Dimensions: Height 28 cm. Style: Art Nouveau / Liberty. Condition: Excellent; the glass maintains its color integrity and shows no chipping; the stopper's patina is original.
