Important Empire period Gueridon in mahogany and gilded bronzes - Rare and elegant First Empire period center table (Gueridon), an example of refined French neoclassical cabinet-making. The circular top is enclosed by a pierced brass gallery with geometric motifs. The apron is decorated with a sumptuous sequence of gilded bronze friezes depicting laurel wreaths and ribbons, typical symbols of Napoleonic decorative repertoire. The furniture rests on four tapered column supports (quiver-shaped), adorned at the top with bronze capitals featuring drapery and ring motifs. The supports end with elegant bronze finials and are connected by a shaped mahogany stretcher, which gives solidity to the slender structure. The quality of the bronze chasing and the choice of wood essence suggest provenance from an important cabinet-making workshop of the era.
