Large Louis XV Style ”Wavy” Center Table – Walnut Essence with Cabriole Legs and Foliate Carvings – 20th Century - Elegant center or hall table, a fine example of 20th-century cabinet-making inspired by the dictates of the Louis XV (Rococo) style. The furniture is distinguished by the absence of straight lines, favoring a sinuous and dynamic silhouette. The Top: Of generous dimensions and with a characteristic ”wavy” or shaped form, it features a walnut veneered surface with grain arranged to create a pleasing geometric pattern. The edge is finished with an ogee moulding that follows the curvilinear perimeter. The Frieze: The under-top frieze is richly shaped and decorated along its entire perimeter with carvings of vegetal motifs and shells (rocaille), which act as a harmonious connection between the top and the supports. The Legs: The table rests on four elegant ”cabriole” (arched) legs, typical of the style. The shoulders are embellished with acanthus leaf carvings in relief, while the feet end with a refined scroll or ”enroulement”. Condition: The object is in good general condition. The structure is solid, and the polishing highlights the flame grain of the wood. There are slight signs of wear and minor surface scratches on the top, consistent with the age and use of the furniture.
