Neoclassical Wall Clock in Dark Wood and Gilded Bronze - 19th Century, 190x50 cm - Neoclassical Wall Clock in Dark Wood and Gilded Bronze – 19th Century This is a splendid and imposing long wall clock dating back to the 19th century, characterized by a pronounced Neoclassical style with Biedermeier influences. Case: Made of dark solid wood, likely mahogany, it features a polished finish that enhances its rich grain. The upper part of the case is elegantly shaped. Front Decorations (Gilded Bronze/Gilded Carved Wood): The distinctive feature is the central application and on the dial frame of rich gilded bronze decorations. Clock Head: On either side of the dial, two majestic eagles (a typical symbol of the Empire style) with spread wings stand out, resting on a base of volutes and floral and vegetal motifs in relief, with touches of color. Central Body: A long and richly worked application, also gilded, descends along the central part of the clock. It is composed of volutes, palmettes, stylized vegetal elements, and two floral inserts that add a chromatic contrast. Dial: Round, white in color with black Arabic numerals for the hours. The dial bears the inscription of the manufacturer or retailer, which appears as ”Rossa”. Condition: As shown in the photograph, the clock is in good aesthetic condition, with patina and signs of use consistent with its age. Functioning, revision is recommended.
