Magini compiled his ”Italia” based on direct surveys and advanced documentary sources for the era. Cartouches: It features two splendid Baroque cartouches: the title cartouche in the upper left and the dedication in the lower right, richly decorated with volutes and mascarons. Territorial detail: It includes the area from the border with the Papal States to Abruzzo Citeriore, with an extremely dense toponymy documenting towns and castles of the time.
