No Reserve - Antique Persian Sultanabad Rug 19 ft 3 in x 5 ft (5.87 m x 1.52 m) - Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs No Reserve - Antique Persian Sultanabad Rug Size: 19 ft 3 in x 5 ft (5.87 m x 1.52 m) Provenance: Collection of late notable London and New York dealer This unusual antique Persian Sultanabad hallway runner rug from the early 20th century is distinguished by its rare open solid ivory field ? a feature so uncommonly encountered in runner format that it was almost certainly a custom commission. Fanciful borders of shifting petaled flowers in orange, red, and white, framed by bands of green leaves, red stems, and daisy-like blossoms, surround the serene central expanse with delicate decorative energy, creating a brightening and warmly elegant piece unlike almost any other in the antique runner category. Condition: Lot #361 is in fair to good condition. The pile is low, with scattered areas of older re-piling throughout the rug, and a repair measuring approximately 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” in the field. The two ends are original and hand-secured, and the sides are secured. There is no dryness in the foundation. This rug is clean and floor-ready.
