Miniature stone axes, typically 2 to 4 inches long, mimicked the form of full size axes but were much smaller and lighter. A few miniature axes do show ancient use-wear, hinting at delicate utility purposes, but general evidence supports the view that they were largely symbolic or playful rather than practical woodworking tools.
