Chair IIII's seat frame inscribed Robinson and its back seat rail is inscribed ”NB” in chalk, probably for ”Nicholas Brown and Company.” Provenance: John Brown (1736-1803), Providence, Rhode Island; To his daughter, Sarah Brown Herreshoff (1773-1846); To her son Charles Frederick Herreshoff (1809-1888); Thus by descent in the Herreshoff Family line.
