Provenance: Sarah Brown Herreshoff (1773-1846); To her son Charles Frederick Herreshoff (1809-1888); Thus by descent in the Herreshoff Family line. The White attribution is based off a related pair of Classical carved mahogany recamiers that are labeled, Charles H. White Cabinet/WAREROOMS No 109 Walnut St. which were sold at Sotheby’s, New York, Important Americana, January 16, 1998, sale 7087, lot 363 and Sotheby's, New York, Important Americana, January 19, 2001, sale 7590, lot 626.
