Pastel The verso bears a handwritten label describing the sitter and provenance dated in 1852. Also bears an old Christie's label. Provenance: Samuel Campbell; Miss Euphemia D. Willson; Mrs. D. Lawrence Clark, Geneva, New York. Christies. 9 x 7 in. (22.9 x 17.8 cm.), Overall 12 3/4 x 11 in. (32.4 x 27.9 cm.) Horizontal wrinkles through center of piece. Some abrasion to surface in arc shape at the lower edge of work. Some diagonal creases at upper corners. Some light horizontal rub through mid-portion of torso. Lightly adhered to wood backer which split causing the horizontal creasing. Edges slightly uneven may have been trimmed ever so slightly. Otherwise, good condition.
