Provenance: The consignor's mother bought a walnut hanging shelf with a warm old finish, which according to James Fiske of Fiske & Freeman, an expert on English furniture, is a rare English early 18th century hanging shelf. It has a top compartment with a lid and lock with paneling underneath it. There are four holes in line on the backboard perhaps to place: keys, coats, or hats. 21 x 30 1/4 x 10 1/2 in. (53.3 x 76.8 x 26.7 cm.) Condition: Condition reports are not provided in catalog descriptions.
