Queen Anne Red Painted Maple and Pine Tavern Table - Queen Anne Red Painted Maple and Pine Tavern Table New England, 1770-1790 Appears to retain its original red painted surface, cracks, stains. Provenance: Peter Eaton, Newton Junction, New Hampshire, at the Connecticut Antiques Show, 1981 27 x 31 3/4 x 22 3/4 in. (68.6 x 80.6 x 57.8 cm.) Condition: Shrinkage cracks, light warpage, stains, wear, abrasions, and candle wax on top. No drawer. Top fastened to base with later screws/nails likely to help control warp. Chip to top near previous pin. Underside of top fitted with two wood braces along crack line. Surface on base is old, dry and likely original. Light warpage to one leg. Shrinkage cracks to tops of legs near apron. Bruising and wear to legs/feet consistent with age and use. Otherwise, a very pure piece in good condition.
