The Chic and Antique Auction follows April 30 to May 1, offering American furniture, fine art, historical documents, and celebrity-owned items, including property from Meryl and William Russell. A key highlight is a group of 33 letters between Franklin D. Roosevelt and Herbert Pell (1918-1945), ending with a letter from Eleanor Roosevelt announcing FDR's death. A 19th-century Steinway piano owned by the Pell family is also featured. The sale includes early American furniture (such as a circa 1770 Chippendale chest and Windsor chairs), items linked to figures like Andy Warhol, John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Vivien Leigh, and works previously owned by collectors including Brooke Astor and the Rockefeller family. Additional offerings include folk art portraits, silver, jewelry, and a bronze sculpture by Gaston Lachaise. Public exhibitions run from April 20 through the sale dates at Nye & Company's gallery.
