A LARGE JAPANESE IKEBANA FLOWER BASKET, SHOWA PERIOD (1926-1989) - A charming, large ikebana flower basket 花籠 (hanakago), crafted from brown susutake 煤竹 (‘smoked bamboo’). The basket features a baluster body set with a large loop handle. Constructed from loosely plaited strands of bamboo with an x-pattern behind broader vertical slats. Height 56.5 cm, width 39 cm, depth 30 cm. In a very good original condition. The base of the vase is slightly indented. Please have a look at the photos for a condition reference.
