A GOLD PENDANT IN THE SHAPE OF THE HEAD OF MEDUSA, 2ND-3RD CENTURY AD - A gold pendant made in the form of a head of medusa, facing slightly to the right. The pendant is fashioned from a thick sheet of gold which has been beaten in repousse fashion, the outside is re-enforced with a thick beaded wire. The suspension loop has been decorated with a small garnet inlay. Gold and garnet. Roman 2/3rd.c.A.D. 42 by 30 mm. Weight: 13 g.
